Material Control Manager

 

JOB OVERVIEW:

The successful candidate will manage activities of the Material Control Department and or functions.  Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise activities and personnel of Material Control's Shipping/Receiving, Stockroom and Distribution  

  • Conduct demand planning optimization

  • Hazmat training

  • Coordinate Transportation Management System (TMS) and Load Planning for shipments

  • Manage government bill of ladings logistics and scheduling

  • Manage in-process and finished goods inventories, including stock rotations, cycle counting and physicals inventories

  • Work with Accounts Payable and requisition to resolve issues with supplier invoices

  • Contribute to Site behavioral and other applicable safety program/processes

  • Maintain cross-training to provide back-up for direct-reports and production management functions as required

  • Understand and trains direct report on the company quality system

  • Continuously monitors direct reports for work quality and identifying training needs of assembly personnel

  • Responsible for on-the-job training as needed.

  • Responsible for the Department hiring process, discipline & termination process

  • Responsible for the annual employee appraisals

  • Responsible for enforcing company policies and procedures per company handbook

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment by enforcing Safety & Housekeeping policies & procedures including Code of Safe Practices.  Will be involved in the monthly safety meetings and training

  • Makes an effort for continuous improvement to work processes for production and/or quality control

  • Reports to and interfaces with Upper Level management and the President.

  • The responsible party to bridge communication (Safety, AS9100, Company policies, procedures & updates/changes) from upper management to Supervisors and leads

  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; coaching & counseling. Working directly with the HR Department and recommending action.

Requires excellent communication skills, written, verbal and presentation skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Effective organization skills

  • Reliable, able to work effectively within/against internal/external deadlines

  • Excellent communications skills with a strong team attitude

  • Demonstrated attention to detail, quality and accuracy

  • College degree in Supply Chain Management or related field or
    a minimum of five years' experience in purchasing, logistics or other Supply Chain function

  • Demonstrated experience in using related ERP/MRP software/tools

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
